Eve & Nick // A Raccoon Creek State Park Engagement Session

Engagements

Last weekend when I was out visiting Steubenville, I went to Raccoon Creek State Park with Eve and Nick to shoot their engagement session. We went in the early morning and besides a few fishermen, we had the park to ourselves. Since it’s a bit of a hike from Steubenville, we decided to drive together which gave us ample time to warm up to each other during the 35min trip. Eve and I have known each other for quite some time and I was so excited to finally meet Nick and to watch these two interact with each other.

As we drove out to the park Nick informed me that as of that day they had been together for two years, two months and one week. I got to hear all about their proposal and plans for their wedding and it honestly was just so fun. By the time we pulled into the park, Eve and Nick were more than ready to jump straight into their engagement session. These two did anything I asked including walking through mud (to get to the perfect spot), climbing out on rocks, walking (more like slipping) across logs, and dancing at the edge of the water. I cannot wait until their wedding in Spring 2020!

I had to include the picture below because of the story. I asked them to walk across this log together but didn’t realize it was super slippery (and on a slight incline) which meant that Eve and Nick simply slid down the log, all while holding hands (and probably making their balance worse for it). But still they tried to walk across and even though it was definitely a futile attempt, they found it hysterical and simply had fun being together which is honestly one of my biggest goals at an engagement session.

I just need to take a moment to brag on Nick. Throughout their entire session he was the most amazing gentleman, always making sure Eve was safe and comfortable. Near the very beginning of their session, he crouched down to wipe mud off her sandals with a leaf and then near the end of their session, he rearranged some rocks in this stream so Eve could walk across without getting her feet wet and muddy. Thank you Nick for your example of true masculinity and thank you Eve for receiving his love in such a beautiful way!

Although I love basically every picture from this session, the following pictures by the waterfall take the cake as some of my all-time favorite engagement pictures ever. I had never actually walked out to the Mineral Springs waterfall before (I have no idea why, the short hike to the falls was gorgeous and easy) so I wasn’t sure what to expect, but it was perfect. I just can’t get over these!

Eve had been praying for sunshine for her engagement session and finally at the very end the sun came out and we got to end with the most glorious light as we hiked back to the car!

Xoxo,

Mary Kate
