Hey! I’m Mary Katherine, aka, Mary Kate. I’m a realistic idealist, messy perfectionist, extroverted introvert and a spontaneous planner. I love big empty spaces, earth tones, cozy places and natural light. Lots and lots of natural light. I’m an INFJ, people-pleaser, and peace-maker whose mission in life is to make people feel seen, known, and loved.
When I was young, I was always creating business endeavors out of games: an art store in our living room with all my original artwork lining the walls, a fashion boutique (with all our dress-up, fanciest clothes, and accessories pulled out and hung
I WANTED TO SERVE PEOPLE WELL (AND MAKE THEM HAPPY), AND I WANTED TO RUN MY OWN BUSINESS.
Photography has practically been a part of me since I was learning how to walk (ok, not quite that long, but close). I was only five years old when I first developed a fascination, ahem, obsession with cameras. As a kid I was always stealing my mom’s camera to take pictures of my siblings and our elaborate games, and well, everything in between. I would spend hours pouring over books with beautiful portraiture or landscape photographs. At eleven years old, I saved up my allowance and bought my very own camera (a hot pink kodak point & shoot which I absolutely thought was the coolest thing) and throughout middle school and high school I spent hours upon hours learning as much as I could about photography. I photographed everything and shared it all on our family blog.
along every door in our main hallway), a flower seedling business, a chocolate business, a bakery, the list goes on. There were two things I knew for sure:

AND SOMEWHERE ALONG THE LINE I REALIZED THAT THIS PHOTOGRAPHY HOBBY COULD PERHAPS BE THE BUSINESS I WAS MEANT TO RUN.
I photographed my first wedding at 17 years old, just a month after my high school graduation and I came home that night knowing that I had found it. I had found my purpose and my calling in life. I had floated on cloud nine all day, overwhelmed with gratitude that someone had trusted me, a brand-new photographer, still figuring out manual and Lightroom, with capturing the most important day of their lives and hadn’t felt stressed once.

gratitude that someone had trusted me, a brand-new photographer, still figuring out manual and Lightroom, with capturing the most important day of their lives and hadn’t felt stressed once.
But despite knowing I had already found my career, God was still calling me to attend college. So, after a gap year filled with more weddings and lots of learning experiences, I spent four years on the hill at Franciscan University of Steubenville. I graduated in May 2018 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Catholic Theology, a newfound passion for women’s ministry, 50+ incredible household sisters, an amazing amount of travel experience, and my girls who are seriously the best friends you could ever have.
Now that I’ve graduated, it’s been exciting and so dang fulfilling to finally be able to invest all my time and energy into building this business into the business of my dreams and developing dear relationships with my clients. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for my IMK Family!
Although I’m located in the Ohio River Valley (close to Pittsburgh and Wheeling), traveling is one of my other passions and I have been blessed to have been to 18 different countries and 25 states. But my travel bucket list is still quite long and I am always up for a new adventure so I will happily travel pretty much anywhere to tell your story!
I love capturing beautiful pictures and creating art, but it’s the relationships that I form with each and every one of my couples that makes everything worth it.
There are so many mundane tasks when it comes to running a business and it’s easy to become overwhelmed or to forget why I’m doing this in the first place. I know that if my business existed solely to be a source of income or a way to gain popularity on social media platforms, I would never be able to pour my heart and soul into this business. I truly believe that God has blessed with me with an incredible career because I get to enter into people’s lives and tell their stories on one of the most important days of their lives. It is the greatest and joy and privilege to be given the responsibility of photographing a wedding day and it is one I do not take lightly at all.
MY MISSION is to bring people in to touch with all that is good, true, and beautiful through the images I create, the relationships I form, and the way I serve each of my clients throughout their entire wedding experience!
