Anna & Jake’s September wedding took place right here in Steubenville. Since I usually travel for most of my weddings, it’s always such a treat to photograph a local wedding in my town. I actually went to Franciscan University with Anna, and we have many mutual friends, so it was extra special to reconnect with familiar faces throughout the day.

The morning began at one of Anna’s friends’ homes, where the girls were getting ready. One of my favorite details from the day was their invitation suite, which Anna’s mom designed! I loved styling and photographing them alongside some dried oranges left over from the reception decor—a simple touch that tied everything together.

Their Nuptial Mass took place at my church, Holy Rosary Catholic Church (Triumph of the Cross Parish)! Fr. Matt gave such a powerful homily on how Anna and Jake’s marriage, and their love for one another, is meant to reveal the love and mercy of God to the world.

After Mass, we headed to Franciscan University’s campus for portraits. Since Steubenville has limited photo locations, I suggested using the “golf course” on campus—and even though I’ve photographed dozens of sessions there, this was actually my first time doing wedding portraits in that spot! In early fall, this part of campus is absolutely stunning, and Anna & Jake’s autumn color palette looked like it was made for the scenery.

Their reception was held at the Fairview Sunset Room in Bridgeville, PA. I loved Anna’s choice to decorate with plants and dried oranges, giving the space a warm, organic feel. She even made and decorated her own wedding cake!
