This year April and May decided to swap places weather-wise and April was filled with sunny and unusually warm days as the world exploded in a symphony of spring colors. The calendar switched to May and it was like a switch happened in the weather as well because it’s been rainy, dreary, and chilly most of these first few weeks of May. I’ve spent more time in sweaters and under warm blankets in the past couple weeks than I did in the month of April and something is just not right about that.
So in an effort to improve my mood on yet another cold and rainy May afternoon, I decided it would be fun to share a snippet into our family life in the month of April. I’ve been trying to pull out my camera more often for spontaneous family moments and to just walk around and capture the beauty around me like I used to do on a regular basis in high school. I’m in the middle of reading “One Thousand Gifts” by Ann Vaskomp (be on the look out for it in my next monthly reading series) and it has inspired me to put even more effort into this in the coming months.
“Isn’t it here? The wonder? Why do I spend so much of my living hours struggling to see it? Do we truly stumble so blind that we must be affronted with blinding magnificence for our blurry soul-sight to recognize grandeur? The very same surging magnificence that cascades over our every day here. Who has time or eyes to notice?” (One Thousand Gifts p. 31)
Xoxo,
Mary Kate
