At the beginning of October, I drove up to New Hampshire for Carolyn & Frankie’s romantic New England fall wedding. I had photographed Frankie’s sister’s wedding a few years ago and it was so fun to be invited back to document another wedding in their family!
New England in the fall is probably one of my favorite things ever and so I was already so excited for this wedding but my goodness, it blew all my expectations out of the water! First of all, Carolyn has this contagious joy (you will not have to scroll far to see what I mean!), secondly, these two are just beautiful humans, inside and out, and thirdly, we were blessed with the most glorious fall day! Wonderful sunshine, peak colors, and the perfect temperatures that weren’t too hot or too cold.
I’m so grateful to work with couples that trust me and are willing to pivot when things don’t go according to plan. We had originally planned to do all their family, wedding party, and couple portraits at the golf course where their reception was being held, but that morning, I realized that wasn’t going to work out. Golf courses are notoriously difficult places to use for photos since you have to work around all the commotion and movement of a golf course, but this one, in particular, had even fewer options for us where we would be safe from flying golf balls. There was only one place we could use and it just had pine trees in the background and no fall colors. I knew Carolyn and Frankie had chosen a fall date and wanted to showcase the gorgeous peak colors in New Hampshire and so I made the decision to change our plan! Thanks to a quick google maps search I noticed there was a small park with a little pond just around the corner from the golf course and there was also a park directly across from their church. Carolyn and Frankie didn’t even question my suggestion to switch up our plans and trusted me fully and I am SO grateful! Both parks worked so well and the light was coming through the red and orange leaves perfectly making for some of my favorite portraits I’ve ever captured!
Carolyn and Frankie, thank you so much for your patience in waiting for this blog post and I hope you enjoy reliving your wedding day as you scroll through this!
(Also, I have to give a shoutout to my awesome second photographer! Deirdre was unable to come with me to this wedding and so instead, William Judd stepped in and he knocked it out of the park!)
Xoxo,
Mary Kate
