Christina & Jim were married last September in the gorgeous Holy Family Catholic Church in Dayton, Ohio. It was my second time photographing a traditional Solemn High Latin Mass wedding ceremony and it was a reverent and beautiful experience. I started off the day with the gentleman as they got ready in Jim’s apartment and then it was time for me to head over to where the ladies were getting ready in Christina’s family home. Both his apartment and her family’s house were unmistakably Catholic from the rosaries hanging on the wall in her house to the Pope clock in his apartment and I loved it.

The foundation of their wedding day was prayer, from the guys praying together in the morning to Christina and Jim praying together behind doors right before the Ceremony to starting their Wedding Mass off with a glorious litany of saints, and all the moments in between. It also happened to be an absolutely amazing sunny and warm day and we were able to spend ample time outside for their portraits in between the ceremony and the reception. I had a wonderful time getting to know their families and friends. One of Christina’s bridesmaids was a bride of mine two years ago, Elizabeth. Christina was one of her bridesmaids two years ago (which is actually where we first met and how they found me). I love when I get to see past couples of mine at weddings!  And in a small Catholic world connection, one of the last times I was out visiting Franciscan University, I stopped to visit a household sister at her apartment off campus. Her roommates were there and one looked super familiar but I couldn’t put my finger on where I had met her before. About ten minutes into our visit it came up that I was a wedding photographer and she suddenly asked me “oh my gosh, did you photograph Christina & Jim’s wedding last September??” It turns out she is Christina’s cousin and was one of the bridesmaids in their wedding. Hence why she looked so familiar to me!!
