Classy, elegant, and a pop of just plain cool are the best words I can think to describe this incredibly fun downtown Pittsburgh wedding.
Cristina and Michael were such an enjoyable couple to work with and their laid back attitudes and love of life and adventure came together for a wonderful day. I don’t know if I’ve had a more relaxed wedding. From the moment I arrived in the morning until I left, Cristina was calm, joyful and just having the best time.
Their nuptial high Mass took place at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Pittsburgh. I’ve seen this historic church from the highway and have always wanted to go inside so it was so exciting to have a wedding there. Pittsburgh really does have some of the most unique and gorgeous historic churches and it’s one of the reasons why I love living so close to this city.
After the ceremony we headed to the river for their portraits. A short rain shower kept us in our cars for a few minutes but as their usual, Cristina and Michael stayed very calm and were happy to go with the flow and after the one random storm cloud passed over, we had the most beautiful post-rain overcast skies. Even though the rain had passed, we had to use the umbrellas for a couple fun wedding party shots and I love how they turned out!
Since Pittsburgh is “their” city, Cristina and Michael wanted to incorporate the iconic yellow Pittsburgh bridges into their photos. After their wedding party was free to head to the reception, we drove to one of the yellow bridges on the North Shore for the rest of their portraits. My favorite part? The fact that Cristina decided to ditch her heels and go barefoot so she could run out on the bridge for a few epic shots right in the middle of it.
Their reception was held at the Art Room in the Strip District of Pittsburgh. It was such a unique and cool venue and perfect for Cristina and Michael. Shortly after dinner, we slipped outside for some nighttime city shots. I will always love sunset photos but if you are having a downtown wedding, there is something so cool about nighttime portraits.
Cristina and Michael, thank you so much for giving me the honor of getting to know you both and photographing your wedding!
Xoxo,
Mary Kate
