“I want to run around outside for sunset photos during our reception, even if it’s pouring rain.”

Gabi shared this with me, a huge smile on her face, as she stood on the party bus, balancing like a pro as her bridesmaids bustled her dress, all while we bumped down a country road lined with cornfields. (A feat of balance for everyone involved, I might add!) I have to start here because that one sentence perfectly sums up Gabi’s joy and zest for life — a spirit that radiated all day long. Colin matches her enthusiasm in every way — and it’s a huge part of what makes these two so special, and it comes out in how they love their people so well and how they embrace each moment as it comes.

Their wedding ceremony at the beautiful St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church was the pinnacle of the day – the moment when they entered into this Holy Sacrament surrounded by their favorite people. For such a small Ohio town, Delphos boasts a truly stunning church; the intricate detail on the front doors alone had me mesmerized. One of my favorite moments came just before the ceremony, when Gabi showed her grandmother the photo of her late grandfather, lovingly pinned to her bouquet. Her grandmother blew her sweetheart a kiss, and I’m pretty sure we all got a little teary-eyed.

After the ceremony, we headed outside for their photos, which we took in record time because storm clouds were ominously rolling in and the breeze was picking up. Then, per Delphos tradition, we made a pit stop at the Rustic Cafe where Gabi & Colin hopped on the bar, drinks in hand, to the cheers of everyone inside (small-town America is truly where it’s at)!

Their reception was held at a local Knights of Columbus hall decked out in lights, candles, and greenery, and their focus was on their 500-some loved ones that had come to celebrate them. Despite having such a large wedding, Gabi and Colin made a point to greet each table so they could personally thank each guest, because that’s just the kind of people they are!

And as Gabi requested, she and Colin danced in the rain before the night ended, smiling and laughing, so overjoyed at finally being married. And to top it off, right as we headed back inside, a rainbow appeared in the distance, a sure sign of God smiling down on these two.

Gabi and Colin, it was truly wonderful getting to know you both and an honor to capture the beauty, faith, and love that filled your wedding day.
