Julie & Peter || Dusty Rose & Terracotta October Wedding

Weddings

Y’all I might be sounding like a broken record with all these fall weddings, but each one is just SO good and I get so excited every time I’m ready to share a new one!

Julie & Peter’s day was no exception. Julie and I were next-door neighbors our freshman year of college at Franciscan University and shared many freshman adventures together that first year. Although we ended up in different friend groups later on in college, I still love those early memories we share! After college, Julie moved out to Arizona, and not too long after that, I started to see pictures of this boy named Peter on her social media.

Julie & Peter share a love for music, the church, and spreading the faith and their friendship quickly turned into something more. I got to meet Peter for the first time last spring when we did their engagement session and I could tell instantly that they were meant for each other. It’s always amazing to me how God seems to create two unique people so perfect for one another.

I had no doubts that their wedding day would be a beautiful celebration of love and joy. I started at the church with the guys and Peter’s joy was already contagious. I definitely might have shed a tear or two when he started crying while reading Julie’s letter. Just a short distance away, Julie was getting ready in her childhood home. I have always loved seeing what each one of my brides chooses to wear and I think they are all gorgeous, however, I was blown away by Julie’s dress and shoes, not only were they perfect for her, but they also were just stunning and different than what I’ve seen before. I love, love, love the delicate floral lace and the slight cream undertones.

Their wedding Mass was a perfect expression of praise and thanksgiving. You could see on their faces how good God has been to them and how overwhelmingly grateful they each were for His goodness. After their Mass, we took their photos at the Franciscan Monastery Gardens which was such a gorgeous location. The only difficulty? There were at least 4 other weddings having their photos taken there too as well as a ton of homecoming photoshoots going on. Somehow, we were able to work around the other weddings and you would never know from their photos that this was actually a pretty busy place. One of the most popular photo spots was the main stone staircase, and so we avoided it initially. Near the end, I asked Julie if she wanted to take the time to walk back through the gardens to have some photos at the staircase. We were running out of time, Julie’s hesitancy to skip them was enough for us to decide to do them real quick. And I am glad we chose to take the time for those photos. They ended up being my favorites from the day, and I think you will agree with me when I say that Julie and Peter could be straight out of a wedding magazine.

Julie & Peter, it was such a privilege to photograph your wedding!

Xoxo,
Mary Kate
