Kaitlyn and Mike were married on the Feast of the Assumption of Mary, August 15—a date they intentionally chose out of their deep love for Christ and His Mother. Their devotion to Our Lady shone throughout the day: from the Marian-blue bridesmaids’ dresses and the blue floral stained glass design on their invitations, to Mike’s Marian cuff links and the rosary wrapped around Kaitlyn’s bouquet of roses and blue hydrangeas.
We started the day off at a charming lakeside airbnb where I photographed their details and Maria captured candids before she met the groomsmen at the church. With the sun sparkling over the lake, we had to go outside for Kaitlyn’s first look with her father and grab a few bridal portraits before leaving for the church! When we arrived at St Mary of the Immaculate Conception, we headed directly to the Marian grotto so that Kaitlyn and Mike could share a first touch and have a private moment to pray together and exchange private vows before a statue of Mary.
Their Nuptial Mass was reverent and moving, set against the breathtaking architecture, statues, and stained glass of a church dedicated to Our Lady. Some of my favorite images from their Mass are from the end when their priest prayed the Nuptial Blessing and invited the whole congregation to join him in prayer over the couple. As they knelt in front of the altar, framed by the beautiful architecture, statues, and stained glass, you could sense all of Heaven rejoicing in the union of this newly married couple!
After Mass, we stopped at the Cleveland Art Museum for portraits — a location Kaitlyn chose because it reminded her of Pride & Prejudice (and I couldn’t agree more!). From there, their intimate reception unfolded at Georgetown Vosh. From there, their intimate reception unfolded at Georgetown Vosh. While I love the energy of large weddings as well, there is something special about smaller receptions because you can really see and focus on all their loved ones surrounding them!
Kaitlyn and Mike, it has been such a joy getting to know you both over the last year, and it was such an honor to document your wedding!
Xoxo,
Mary Kate
