Last June, I had the joy of photographing Hannah and Matthew’s wedding at one of the most breathtaking cathedrals in the country—Our Lady, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Cathedral in Toledo, Ohio. So when Kara and Konrad reached out and shared they were getting married in the very same cathedral, I was thrilled. Not only would I get to photograph that stunning space again, but I’d also be working with a familiar and truly wonderful group of friends—(Matthew as Konrad’s best man!), which made the day feel all the more meaningful.

Adding to the sense of awe that the cathedral invokes was the fact that their wedding took place the day after Pope Leo XVI was elected. Hearing the words “and your servant Leo, our Pope” spoken during the Eucharistic Prayer for the very first time gave the Mass a profound and unforgettable touch—an echo of the Church’s living, breathing tradition happening right there on their wedding day!

After the beautiful Mass, we lingered in the cathedral to capture portraits surrounded by its incredible architecture. Then we made our way to their reception at the charming and historic Nazareth Hall. As golden hour began to settle over the countryside, we wrapped up their portraits in that magical, honeyed light that I love so much! One of my favorite spots was a wooden swing tucked under the branches of a towering tree at the bottom of a hill on the property—a perfect mix of whimsy and romance!

The reception space was filled with soft pops of light purple and spring florals overflowing with texture and rich colors! Kara and Konrad are both super intentional and loving people and you could tell how much their guests meant to them!
