This past Saturday I had the joy of photographing Kelsey & Zach’s wedding near Pittsburgh in the same church where they first met over five years ago at a high school youth group night. (If their names sound familiar, you may remember them from their engagement session I shot back in February in the middle of a snow storm.)
Like every other couple getting married right now, Kelsey & Zach had to make some tough decisions because of Covid. A few weeks ago they made the difficult decision to cancel their big reception and instead have an intimate party under a tent in Kelsey’s parents’ front yard with just their immediate families and wedding party. Since they were canceling the reception, they decided to have a drive thru receiving line at the back of the church after their wedding ceremony. This turned out to be such a special time for their loved ones to congratulate them and share in their joy.
After they had greeted all of their family and friends, we headed to a nearby park for all the portraits and it turned out to be the perfect location. The light was gorgeous, there was ample shade to help cool us all down, and a beautiful little pond behind us. Since there wasn’t a normal reception to rush to, we were able to take our time and get some truly beautiful portraits.
Kelsey & Zach, I am so happy for you two and so grateful that you chose me to photograph your wedding!
Xoxo,
Mary Kate
