Classy, genuine, and just plain fun are the best words I can think of to describe Lauren and Jacob and their winter wedding last weekend. I actually had not had a chance to meet these two before their wedding but they were both so calm and wonderful all day and it felt like we had known each other much longer than we actually did.

The whole day from beginning to end was entirely stress-free and so relaxed. We had ample time for everything, Lauren was the calmest bride ever (she even walked several city blocks in her wedding dress from the hotel to the church in the morning in 30-degree weather because she wanted the fresh air and adventure) and there was literally nothing that went wrong.

Their wedding Mass took place at the Cathedral Parish of St. Patrick’s in Harrisburg, PA. This is one of my favorite churches to photograph and I was so excited to be able to shoot another wedding here. It is absolutely stunning and an incredible church for a wedding.

The only hard part of the entire day was the gusts of freezing wind which made the temperature feel even colder than it already was. But Lauren and Jacob were absolute troopers (as were their wedding party) and I love the portraits we got! We took some on the steps of the Pennslyvania state capitol building (I’m slightly biased since I’m from PA, but I truly believe we have one of the most beautiful state capitol buildings), and then we did the rest of their portraits at their venue, the Manor at Mountain View. God was watching out for us because literally as soon as we got into our cars after the photos on the steps, the wind picked up and a crazy 10-minute snow squall blew through. If you’ve never heard of a snow squall, it is basically a crazy intense super fast snowstorm that comes out of nowhere with high winds and often near-zero visibility and leaves just as suddenly as it arrives. But by the time we arrived at the Manor, the storm was gone and the sun was out once again and the rest of the evening went on without a hitch!
