If I had to describe Marykate & Ross’s wedding in just a few words I’d say picture this: sweeping mountain views, the most down-to-earth, genuine, and just plain cool two people madly in love with each other, a beautiful Byzantine ceremony steeped in tradition, and a posse of children running, climbing, dancing, and playing having the time of their lives.
When Marykate first reached out to me, I was so excited at the possibility of coming out to Wyoming for her wedding because I had never been to this part of the country before, the real “wild west” of the USA, and my goodness, the beauty out here is unmatched. Pictures truly don’t do it justice, although I tried my best! I’m so grateful Marykate & Ross chose to bring me all the way to their stunning part of this country.
One little amazing God story is that the forecast was calling for rain leading up to their wedding and when I woke up the morning of their wedding it was dark, gloomy and so foggy you couldn’t see any of the surrounding mountains. Obviously, this was less than ideal and so I texted a bunch of my friends asking them to pray for the weather to change and lo and behold, a few hours later the rain stopped completely exactly as I was pulling up to where the girls were getting ready. Not only did the rain stop but the fog disappeared and the sun even came out giving us glorious skies and wonderful views.
Something I especially loved about Marykate & Ross was their deep love & appreciation for their families and especially for all their nieces and nephews. This was the most kid-friendly wedding I’ve been to yet and it was honestly SO fun. Two of Marykate’s nieces were with us in the morning and they danced around us as hair and makeup were getting done and circled around Marykate as her mom was zipping her dress, exclaiming at how beautiful she looked. Kids crowded the aisle during their ceremony to be able to see better while parents rocked babies in the side aisle or back of the church. And the reception was filled with kids spinning on the dance floor, chasing a remote-controlled car outside, climbing trees, climbing the hitching posts, playing cornhole and tag, and just having the absolute best time. And Marykate & Ross were delighted in their delight.
Marykate & Ross, thank you SO much for bringing me to your gorgeous state and entrusting me with documenting your wedding day.
Xoxo,
Mary Kate
