New Obsession

Uncategorized

I’ve found a new obsession. Lightning photography. I never knew how fun and addicting it was! I took my first ever lightning photos today and after an hour and half on our front porch and about 400 pictures later, I have 5 awesome lightning photos and it was totally worth it! It took me awhile to figure out what settings to use so the first 200 pictures were pretty much all black.
It’s already really late at night so I could only edit one of them so far, I edited my favorite:

It’s moments like these that make photography so exciting. Actually this is something I can cross off my bucket list (which I will be putting up soon): to take a successful lightning photo.

and then, she {snapped}

Thanks for looking!

So cool, love the colour! You captured it so well!
I can't wait to see your bucket list, I really must write one myself.

  4. Linda Makiej says:

    Wonderful shot!!
I have never been able to capture lightning so beautifully – just great!

  5. I remember the first time I got an awesome lightning shot (although it was nowhere near as impressive as yours!) It's such a thrill, isn't it?

  6. Susan says:

Now that is totally amazing!! And scary too.

    Hope your day is blessed!

  7. great, it isn't easy to capture lighting

  8. Shannah says:

Nice! I have tried getting lightning pictures before, actually I did last night. But whenever I get my camera out the lightning pretty much stops! (or at least it seems like it!) =/ So I have no lightning pictures to share…yet! =)

  9. Awesome job!!!! That is on my bucket list to but I think it will have to happen on a trip. The lightning in NC is weird! It's rolling thunder and the lightning almost always lights up the whole sky or is from cloud to cloud. I still try but haven't been successful yet! I love your shot!

  10. Sarah says:

Awesome lightning shots! I would love to learn how to shoot that. Also have to have lightning and we haven't had that for a while.

  11. Hallie Jo says:

Ooooooh!!! How glorious! I've always wanted to try lightning shots, but we haven't had a very good year for thunderstorms. 🙁

  12. JAW DROPPING! That is soooo on my list of things I MUST capture. AMAZING!

  13. That's a good idea. I haven't even thought about attempting to get a lighting picture. However, with the way things have been going around here, who knows when we'll see rain again.

  14. Emily says:

Beautiful and impressive! I love the colors and how the lighting seems alive even in the photo. I think lightning will have to go on my bucket list too :o)! Congratulations and thank you for sharing!

  15. Karin M. says:

    Wow …. that's a fantastic photo ….. a spectacular play of colors ….. super nice shot ….

This is fabulous! I tried at the beach during a storm this summer but I never clicked at the right time.

  17. Al says:

Nicely done. Lightning is one of my favorite subjects – if you go to my blog and click on the Lightning tag (on the right of the blog there's a list of tags) you'll see some of my attempts. Luckily I live in an area where we get regular afternoon and evening thunderstorms throughout the summer.

  18. wordcoaster says:

Nice! I doubt I have the patience to take a good lightning shot, so kudos to you–perhaps the next time I do The Electric Slide I'll think of this 😉

  19. Jennifer says:

This is incredible! Great shot Mary Kate! You won Fabulous Friday. 🙂 Thanks for entering!

  20. Candy says:
