I have been slowly working my way through my 2300-some photos from the seven weeks I spent in Ecuador this past summer and it was my original intention to blog in a chronicle, orderly manor once I’d finished all the photos, but I’ve come to the realization that it’s going to take me longer than I intended to finish getting through all of the Ecuador photos since my first priority is editing wedding photos and, of course, my copious amounts of school work.

So, I’ve decided that random blogposts from Ecuador are totally acceptable and I’m starting off with sharing images from the day we drove to the absolutely gorgeous crater lake, Quilotoa. It was a beautiful scenic drive (per usual) and the lake itself was one of the most incredible places I’ve been blessed to visit. I couldn’t really decide which pictures to share, so I just added most of them (more is always better, right??).

It was a long, steep hike from the top of the crater (where we started out) to the bottom (where the shore of the lake is) but it was worth it! The white meandering trail can barely be seen it zigzags so much, but if you look closely you can see it in the photo below.

A bunch of our team members jumped into the lake and swam but it was the coldest water I have ever felt and I had no desire to get wet so I ended up kayaking instead (which was awesome). It never crossed my mind how deep the lake probably was (it is a crater lake after all), and that’s probably a good think because if I had known how deep the lake was, I most likely would have been way to freaked out to kayak on it. (It’s 900ft deep….o.O)Some team members decided to walk back up the nearly mile long trek to the top, but some of us chose to ride the mules back up. 🙂I am extremely glad we were able to see this stunning piece of God’s creation and if I ever make it back to Ecuador, I will very happily visit Quilotoa again.
