A few months ago, I was able to second shoot for the lovely Allix, of Allix Ruby Photography. Having been a follower of her work and her precious family on social media for several years, I was thrilled to have this opportunity to meet and work for her. Second shooting is a fun way for me to fill up empty weekends, because I get to do what I love, photograph people in love, but without all the work before and after.
Rebekah and Kyle’s wedding fell on a gloriously sunny June afternoon and was held in one of the most unique venue’s I’ve encountered, a theatre. From getting ready in the dressing room, to saying “I do” up on the hill, to dancing the night away in the main theatre room, everything was magical. Rebekah and Kyle chose not to see each other before the ceremony, but they wanted to pray together beforehand. However, instead of hiding behind doors or a wall, they had Kyle blindfolded so that they could still embrace and hold each other minutes before becoming husband and wife. It was one of the most intimate and beautiful moments on a wedding day that I’ve been priviledged to witness.
I am so glad I was free to help out Allix because this wedding was purely delightful, plus I got to meet Allix’s precious baby girl and oh yeah, did I mention they had a donut cake? That’s a win in my book any day. 🙂
This post wouldn’t be complete without me talking about their first dance. They learned the ball dance from the new Cinderella and it was impeccable. Definitely ranks as the most romantic first dance I’ve seen.
Right after I took the photo on the right, this grandfather came over to talk to me and pointing at his wife, he said “you see that beautiful woman, well that’s my bride.”. Their obvious love for each other was incredibly touching.
xoxo,
Mary Kate
