There’s something undeniably magical about rainy spring weddings, and Sarah & Noah’s early May celebration in Buffalo, NY was no exception. The entire day felt like something out of a storybook — full of emotion, elegance, and just the right touch of drama from the weather.
I began the day with Sarah at her parents’ home, where I photographed the lovely details she had set aside for me (can we talk about that ring?! Absolute stunner). As the time came for her to step into her gown, her bridesmaids gathered on the other side of the French doors, peeking in as her mom helped her into the dress. It was such a special moment!
Their ceremony took place at St. Louis Catholic Church, a striking church nestled in the heart of Buffalo. With its ornate stonework and intricate stained glass, it’s one of those churches that feels sacred the moment you walk through the doors. I arrived a bit early to photograph the intricate architectural details before guests began to arrive — and I’m so glad I did. The space holds such a rich, reverent atmosphere, and it made the perfect setting for Sarah and Noah’s Nuptial Mass.
After the ceremony, we made our way to Forest Lawn Cemetery for portraits — a location that might surprise some, but one that Sarah knew would be perfect. And she was absolutely right. With its grand monuments, old-growth trees, and English countryside feel, it gave us the most enchanting backdrop. Add in the soft rain and it truly felt like we’d stepped into a period drama. I half-expected Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth to wander into the frame. (Spoiler alert, they didn’t — but Sarah and Noah certainly brought that same kind of timeless romance. I always tell my couples not to fear a rainy wedding day — and their portraits are exactly why!
The celebration continued at Wurlitzer Events, a space full of historic charm and industrial elegance. The reception was both refined and wildly fun — a perfect reflection of Sarah and Noah themselves. One of the biggest highlights? Not one, but two choreographed dances, including a surprise traditional Filipino dance!
Sarah and Noah, thank you so much for trusting me to document your beautiful wedding!
Xoxo,
Mary Kate
