The Day I Jumped on the Equator

Travel

During fall break several weeks ago, I managed to edit a bunch more pictures from Ecuador (hey, I’m actually almost done! Maybe I’ll finish over Thanksgiving break…:)

I promise I have a ton of mission pictures (it was a mission trip after all), but with those pictures come stories and, well, I need time to sit down and figure out what exactly to write, or rather, how exactly to describe the experiences that rocked my world. So in the mean time, I’m sharing another touristy post full of travel photos from one of very first days in Ecuador over five months ago (um..how has it been five months????).

We spent the first half of the day exploring Quito, the capitol city of Ecuador. It sits at almost 10,000ft above sea level and is rich with history and culture. I don’t have much time (my studies are calling my attention once again), so I’m just going to let the pictures do most of the talking. 🙂

Basílica del Voto Nacional is in downtown Quito and is the largest neo-Gothic basilica in the Americas. Exploring beautiful Churches is one of my favorite parts of traveling and this basilica did not disappoint. It quite literally took my breath away.

After spending several hours in Quito, we drove an hour north to Mitad del Mundo (aka: the Middle of the World). It was extremely touristy, but it is pretty fun to be able to say that I’ve jumped on the Equator and I’m definitely glad we went! 🙂
