Man oh man, where do I even start with this one? Exactly one week ago one of my best friends married the love of her life. Despite changing their location three weeks before their wedding, dealing with all the stress and uncertainty surrounding covid, and getting married in Florida during a tropical storm, Abby & Andrew stayed calm and joyful on their wedding day. They chose to let go of the things they couldn’t control and instead focus on what was the most important thing: entering into the Sacrament of Marriage together surrounded by their immediate families and some of their closest friends.

I played double duty as bridesmaid and photographer (like I did for my cousin this past November) but this time, thanks to covid, I did not have a second photographer to come work for me for the day. However, I have to give a shout out to Casey Johnson for helping me capture parts of the ceremony, and for one of my other best friends, Rachel, for standing in the middle of the road in the POURING rain to take all the wedding party photos and then coming with me during the bride & groom portraits to help me carry my equipment and fluff the veil.

Abby & Andrew, you two constantly inspire me to become a better person and I am so blessed to call you both two of my closest friends. It was one of the greatest privileges to serve you through photography on your wedding day and I cannot wait to see you both again. Thank you for saying yes to the beautiful vocation of marriage and for giving all of us such a stunning example of sacrificial and unconditional love.

After we finished their pictures, we headed over to the church hall for a small reception where Abby & Andrew were able to share their first dance, cut a cake, and listen to the hysterical and very sweet toasts from their best friends. While it might not have been the full reception they originally planned, it was filled with so much joy and love and at the end of the day, that’s all that truly matters.

Pro tip: Choose your very best friends to be your maid of honor and best man for the most hilarious and yet tear-inducing toasts.
