When Brittany first reached out to me earlier this year and told me her wedding was in Youngstown, Ohio at Stambaugh Auditorium, I was super excited. Brittany told me that she and Dave chose Stambaugh to be their ceremony venue because they loved the building’s architecture and beauty; and my goodness, it made for the most elegant setting for a wedding! Something about the grand staircases, massive windows, and pillars made for a castle-like element that was just asking to be photographed.

Brittany and Dave met in Pittsburgh a few years ago and quickly hit it off. Although I was meeting them for the first time at their wedding, it was immediately obvious how perfect these two are for each other! They complement one another so well and they share such a beautiful and deep love. They chose to do a first look before the ceremony and then head into their portraits so that we could utilize the beautiful architecture of Stambaugh before their guests began to arrive. Dave’s quiet steadfast and gentle nature combined with Brittany’s bubbly and joyful outgoing personality make a truly amazing match and it was such a joy to get to know them both and document their wedding day!

We ended the day at the Lake Club for their reception which is another awesome Youngstown venue! Their wedding planner, Angela, from Endearing Events, and their florist, Jennifer, from Design House Events, did a spectacular job with the reception space!

One of the things I’ve been personally challenging myself to do this year at weddings is to practice more creative ways to capture dance floors and I feel like I’ve finally gotten a good handle on a technique called “shutter drag”. I don’t use it for the entirety of the dance floor but it does make for some super fun images that make you *feel* the dance floor in an entirely different way! Brittany and Dave had the perfect setup to practice this and it was fun to end the night capturing some epic dance floor shots!

Brittany and Dave, thank you so much for entrusting me with the job of capturing your wedding day! You two are both so kind and generous and I loved getting to know you both as well as your family and friends!
