On May 1st, the Feast of St. Joseph the Worker, Kody and Chris were married in the beautiful church of Our Lady of the Rosary in Dayton Ohio. It was the perfect temperature and weather for the first wedding in May and the entire day was surrounded with so much joy and grace.
Everything about this day was orientated towards God and Eternity. From the almost two-hour long Traditional High Latin Mass, to the blessing before dinner and everything in between, it was evident that Jesus was at the center of this wedding day and relationship.
Kody and Chris are both very thoughtful and loving individuals. One example that shows you so much about Kody’s character is that she chose to include both her parent’s and Chris’s parents in the special moments when she was getting ready. It was incredibly sweet to see both her mother and her soon-to-be mother-in-law help her into her dress and she did her first look with both her father and Chris’ father. I loved this idea and it was so neat to see how much Chris’ parents appreciated being there for it.
As for the colors, a gorgeous plum accented with light blue and hints of orange and blush made for the perfect color scheme for this spring wedding. Laura (my amazing second photographer) and I could not stop gushing about all the florals! Kody said she picked her flowers based on the fragrance she loved most, and not the colors, but they all went together SO beautifully!
Their reception was at the Grand Hall in Liberty Tower in downtown Dayton. This historic building makes for a dramatic ballroom setting. Towering floral arrangements and pops of purple throughout the tables made for a truly remarkable setting. Kody and Chris took ballroom lessons for the months leading up to their wedding and they surprised their guests with a wonderful choreographed first dance!
We ended the day with a sunset portrait session on top of the parking garage across the street and can I just say, these are probably some of my favorite pictures from the day. The light was golden perfection and the top of the garage made for a perfect blank slate for portraits.
Overall this was the best start to my May weddings and I’m so happy to get to share this wedding with you all! Kody and Chris, I have loved getting to know you both and I hope you love getting to relive your day!
Xoxo,
Mary Kate
