A little over a week ago, Lynn and John were married on the most beautiful August day. Lynn and John were married at St. Joseph Catholic Church in York, PA which is actually the church I grew up going to (and is still where my family belongs and where my dad works). I have only photographed one other wedding in my home parish and that was years ago so this was so special for me to do!

Lynn chose shades of purple for the bridesmaid dresses, details, and reception decor and accented them with gorgeous pops of deep red, magenta, and fuschia in the flowers. It was a delightful color arrangement and perfect for a summery wedding day!

Lynn and John were surrounded by their close-knit community of family and friends and you could feel their tangible joy and love throughout the whole day. However, there was one person that was deeply missed on this incredible day. Lynn’s sweet father passed away a few years ago to cancer and through that incredibly difficult time, John was a sturdy foundation for Lynn to lean on. Lynn wanted to share a special moment with her father on her wedding day, so on the way to the church, we stopped at the cemetery so that she could leave some flowers with her dad. When I was asking Lynn if she wanted me to share the story of her dad, she said yes because it was an honor to her dad to share his story and the legacy he has left behind.

Later on, her younger brother walked her down the aisle to the man who has weathered every storm with her thus far and was vowing to spend the rest of her life with her. While it obviously wasn’t the way Lynn or her family ever wanted, I know her dad was smiling down and beaming with joy as he watched his beloved daughter marry the love of her life.

And what a day it was. The joy and sorrow held hand-in-hand, life lived to the fullest, every emotion experienced and lived in. A fulfillment of all God’s promises and a taste of the heavenly banquet to come.
