Tessa & Zack were married on a beautiful, rainy October day at the Shrine of St. Anthony in Ellicott City MD. It was, in fact, supposed to be the day that Hurricane Delta brought pouring rain to Maryland. Originally, Tessa & Zack’s entire wedding day was going to be outside, starting with an outdoor wedding Mass followed by their reception under a big white tent. But on the morning of their wedding, the decision had to be made to bring the Mass inside with their immediate families present in the Chapel and their guests watching the live-stream from the reception tent.

Even though that was not the way Tessa & Zack originally wanted their wedding to go, they both chose to embrace the change joyfully and peacefully and the entire day was filled with so much grace, beauty, and love.

As I have mentioned in previous wedding posts this summer, I prayed hard to St. Isidore the Farmer for the rain to hold off during the hour we were supposed to do their First Look and take all of their portraits outside. St. Isidore the Farmer is a champion prayer warrior for anything regarding rain and God heard our prayer and the rain miraculously stayed away until just after we had finished the last of the portraits before Mass. Right after the Mass ended, I took Tessa & Zack back outside for a few “just married” portraits and it was the perfect amount of rain to dance in and not get completely soaked. I actually LOVE the rainy portraits we got in those 10 minutes and they are some of my favorites from the day. I’ve said this before too, but I’ll say it again: brides, you do not need to be afraid of rain on your wedding day! We can still make so much magic happen in the rain!
