Shoes slipped onto our feet,
the air outside is dusty sweet,
we see the chickens, we see the cows,
the horse, the donkey, and scores of meow’s
a goat, a sheep, and a puppy too.
To all we say a “how’d’you’do?”
Pick a flower for mama, or maybe two or three,
play a game of stepping on toadstools,
jumping from one to the other to playfully escape the
clutches of our childhood fantasies,
below is a lake of lava, above the clear blue sky,
we’re never too old to play make-believe.
Hey, I’m Johanna Grace, I am 16 years old, live on a farm,
take too many pictures, write many words, read even more.
