Maggie & Seth ||A New England Christmas Wedding

Weddings

Maggie & Seth’s New England wedding was straight out of a Hallmark Christmas movie and it could not have been a more perfect end to my 2019 wedding season. Maggie and Seth met at Franciscan University and fell in love in the spring of 2016. Their relationship is firmly rooted in the Lord and their love for one another is such a beautiful witness to the love of Christ. I loved hanging out with these two at the engagement session a few months ago and I have been eagerly awaiting their wedding ever since.

We started the day at the Country Club of Pittsfield where everyone was getting ready. Once ready, Maggie & Seth shared an emotional first look on the back porch (queue all the tears, it was literally the sweetest thing). After shooting all the portraits we headed into the town of Stockbridge, MA where they were married in the historic church of St. Joseph (the very same church where Maggie’s grandparents were married over 40 years ago). Their wedding Mass was absolutely beautiful and full of so much worship and love. The tiny church was packed to the brim and everyone’s voices joined in with the worship songs Maggie & Seth had chosen to create a truly heavenly Nuptial Mass.

After they were married we headed outside for a few “just married” portraits. The sun was setting and we had the most glorious golden light. The church was right off of the main street of Stockbridge and so we finished their portraits in front of the storefronts on Main street which was a magical combination of New England charm and Christmas glam.

We headed back to the Country Club of Pittsfield for their reception which was a Christmas wonderland. Their reception was filled with lots of laughter and tears and so much dancing. There were a ton of their college friends at the wedding and a fair number of them happened to be people I had known at Franciscan as well. Maggie & Seth put me at a table with a bunch of fellow Frannies including Taylor & Trong (whose wedding I photographed back in August). It was so fun to see another them and to catch up over dinner! Speaking of IMK Couples, TWO of my 2020 couples were guests at this wedding as well! Eve & Nick and Cara & Kenny, it was so fun to see you guys and I can’t wait for your weddings next year!!

Maggie and Seth, thank you for entrusting me with the job of photographing your wedding and welcoming me into you and your families’ lives during such an incredible time. It was truly a blessing to witness and photograph the start of your greatest adventure yet. You guys are the best!

Sorry not sorry for the overload of first look pictures below. Their first look was such a beautiful and emotional moment and this is why I LOVE when couples choose to have a first look.

Maggie, you are stunning!! Seth, you are one lucky man!

I seriously had such a fun time with their amazing wedding party! Their best friends were troopers putting up with the cold and wind and even though we were rushing through these (um hello freezing temperatures) they still managed to have FUN doing the different prompts I gave them! This was literally the only place I could put the whole wedding party due to the snow/mud on the ground, the position of the sun, and the number of bridesmaids/groomsmen, and there were quite a few distractions in the original photo. But a little post-processing magic and the obnoxious telephone poles, speed limit sign, and white line on the road disappear (I’ll be sharing the before and after in my Instagram stories later today so be on the lookout for that!)

I could literally go on and on about how much I love the following portraits. They seriously are some of my favorites from all year and they make me want a Christmas wedding of my own someday!

Maggie and Seth chose to wash each other’s feet before sharing their first dance. I’ve had quite a few couples do this in the past and every time it is one of the stunning things to witness.

And that’s a wrap! I can’t believe another wedding season is over!! I will be forever grateful to each and every couple who entrusted me with the job of photographing their wedding this past year!

Xoxo,

Mary Kate
