When I was driving out to Indiana for Erin and Ryan’s wedding last month, I stopped in Cincinnati to photograph Samantha and Clay’s engagement session.
I absolutely love when my couples choose an engagement session that has sentimental value and so I was thrilled when Samantha asked if we could use some of their favorite spots in the city. We started their session in the Mt. Adam’s neighborhood because it is one of their frequent date spots and it’s the same neighborhood where Clay proposed last fall. We ended the session a few minutes away at Eden Park where Clay took Samantha on a picnic for their first date.
Although Samantha and Clay met at Franciscan University way back in their sophomore year, they didn’t really become friends until their senior year. And it wasn’t until after college, when they both moved to Cincinnati to start jobs at the same company (a decision both of them made independently of the other), that they started to realize that perhaps they were meant to be more than friends. Now they call Cincinnati “their city” because they so firmly believe it is the city God used to bring them together and it is the city that holds all the memories of their relationship.
It was such a joy to get to know both of these beautiful souls a little more and photograph them and I can’t wait to be back in Cincinnati next month for their wedding!
Xoxo,
Mary Kate
