My spring wedding season began with a very special wedding for a dear friend of mine! Katie and I first became friends nearly ten years ago while studying abroad together in Austria during college. Since then, we’ve shared many trips, long phone calls, and meaningful conversations over the years. It was during a trip to Wyoming a few years ago that I first heard about Rob. They had only recently started dating, but it was already clear that there was something special between them.

Fast forward a few years, and what an honor it was to witness and photograph Katie and Rob’s wedding day! The day began and ended at General Butler State Resort Park in Carrollton, Kentucky. Katie spent the morning getting ready in one of the park’s cozy cabins alongside her bridesmaids. One of the sweetest moments of the morning was watching both her mom and Rob’s mom help her into her dress — especially because Rob’s mom had actually made her wedding dress! How incredible is that?

Their Nuptial Mass took place at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, just a short drive away. The church was stunning, with its soft blue ceiling and beautiful stained glass windows. Right before the ceremony began, Katie shared a sweet moment with her dad, and I’m so grateful I was able to capture it for them.

After their Mass, we headed back into the state park, first stopping for their portraits at a beautiful overlook and under a flowering pink dogwood tree. It was the Friday of Easter Week and the spring flowers were all on full display! Once we finished their photos, we joined their guests at their reception at the banquet hall in the state park. Lots of laughter, dancing, and long conversations filled the evening as their family and friends celebrated the start of their marriage!
